In the U.S., we are based in Lexington, KY and occupy a 100,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility, a 33,000 sq. ft. administrative office, and a LEED Gold Certified, 44,000 sq. ft. R&D facility. Our 10,000 sq. ft. (1000 m2) Australian facility is located in Tingalpa, Queensland and houses our administrative office, Sales, Marketing, Applications Engineering and warehouse.

Big Ass Fans has over 65,000 fans in operation in hundreds of different applications all over the world. Our dedicated team of engineers rigorously designs and tests every fan we build to ensure they are the most effective and reliable fans possible.

Our R&D facility enables us to develop fans such as our Powerfoil X2.0 for the industrial market, a fan that sets the standard for air circulation, safety, and durability. For the commercial and institutional markets, our Element and Isis fans use cutting-edge motor technology to merge space-age design with silent operation, allowing our customers to use them in applications as varied as schools, health clubs, auditoriums, and churches.

How Did You Come Up with That Name Big Ass Fans?

We started in 1999 as the HVLS Fan Company, but after 3 years in business we finally had to bow to the sentiments of our customers and concede that we do, in fact, design and manufacture some Big Ass Fans. It was therefore a natural step to change our name to Big Ass Fan Company, and to “adopt” our mascot, Fanny the Donkey, shortly thereafter.
