We love your Big Ass Fans, they really keep our districution center cool.
As an Interior Designer I have been quite fond and knowledgeable of your product. I thought your product is great and the name was humorous and catchy. That is until viewed your recent ad in Dwell Magazine, Dec/Jan 2010. And noticed how you have an African Woman placed on your advertisement. As an African American woman, I feel highly offended by the ad and, feel it should be removed from all future publications. Even though there is not an image of her ASS on the ad, the message is very well implied through present stereotypes. FYI... For those who think I may be overreacting, you obviously have not had the burden of experiencing negative stereotypes. So try and put yourself in someone else shoes first, then react.
Big Ass Fans:

Thank you for your comments. We were so taken aback by what you had to say that we felt we should give you a personal response.

We admit that we push the envelope with our advertising. However, even we were flabbergasted to hear that anyone would have made the sort of connection between the name of the company and the model portrayed. In fact, while our ads might frequently be tongue-in- cheek, we take great pains to never be crude or hurtful. We can assure you that the connection you saw was never even on our radar. In fact, yours is the very first comment that we have ever received about using a person of color in our advertising and any possible negative connotation that might have. Our marketing team is quite diverse and not a single person considered that this might be an issue.

Just so you are aware, the residence in which the fan is installed is owned by a native of South Africa and while she did not wish to be featured in our advertisement, she was appreciative that we chose an African-American model in our advertisement. We had plenty of models to choose from, but the consensus was that the woman selected personified our Isis fan: sleek and stylish. We are sorry that you saw something other than our intent to celebrate the beauty of our product by connecting it with the beauty of a lovely, mature woman. Her color was irrelevant except for the being a bow to the woman who was so kind as to let us feature her home in our advertising.

Pricing pricing pricing !!!!! I know from reading the reviews that you like to work closely with your customers to make sure they choose the right fan for there application but you could give us a price range to go by so that we don't waste each others time looking at a product that we can't afford. Also pricing online would help if looking at your products after you have closed for the day.

I recently seen your BIG ASS SET UP for BIG ASS FANS at the AHR Expo in orlando. I just want to let you know that i will be recommending BIG ASS FANS to all my friends, family and co-workers
We had these fans where I work and not only did they look great, they really did the job. I think a home version would be great. I am sick of the 4, 5, or even 6 blade watered down versions that are our only choices for home use. Big Ass Domestics. BAD
