This year’s Super Bowl has been touted as the greenest yet, thanks in part to the energy-saving excellence of large diameter, low speed fans installed in the home of the Indianapolis Colts.

A Crowded Problem

In addition to hosting the 2012 Super Bowl, Lucas Oil Stadium is one of the busiest stadiums year round, hosting the 2010 NCAA Men’s Final Four and 2011 NCAA Women’s Final Four, along with various other sporting events.

Providing a uniform temperature and proper ventilation can be problematic in large spaces like stadium concourses. Big Ass Fans move large volumes of air to solve both of these issues at a reduced cost compared to other options.

A Giant Solution

HKS architectural design firm installed twenty-six 24-ft. diameter Big Ass Fans throughout Lucas Oil Stadium’s massive concourses, which range from 26 to 80 ft. in ceiling height.

“When we discovered Big Ass Fans, we instantly knew we had the perfect air movement solution for the space,” said Jonathan Kelley of HKS.

HVAC systems work harder and longer to compensate for rapid influxes of people that occur in concourse areas, but elevating air speed with Big Ass Fans instantly provides cooling in areas with dynamic occupancy levels while consuming very little energy.

Touchdown!

HKS conquered many design challenges at Lucas Oil Stadium by installing Big Ass Fans, providing comfort to patrons year round at stadium events.

“Big Ass Fans created a dynamic solution, bringing life to what was otherwise just an open volume of nothingness,” said Kelley.

When augmenting cooling and heat in a large stadium, Big Ass Fans will bring your crowd to its feet.
