With aspirations to become the first LEED® Certified™ restaurant and retail facility in the region, Hot Italian Pizza & Panini Bar was in search of a cooling system with minimal impact on the environment. With multiple stoves cooking fresh pizzas, temperatures in the restaurant could become uncomfortable for both employees and customers. Owners needed to cool the space back down without pumping it full of chilled air from an air conditioner, which would use a lot of energy and jeopardize LEED certification.


A 12-ft (3.7-m) diameter Element by Big Ass Fans® is the perfect combination of form, function and sustainability. The Element fan complements the architectural design of the space, and perfectly aligns with Hot Italian’s green initiatives by increasing the efficiency of the existing heating and cooling system. The fan also provides up to 10°F (5.6°C) of perceived cooling. Hot Italian employees appreciate the increased comfort level the fan delivers, while customers compliment the aesthetic enhancement of the space.
