How do I choose the appropriate downrod length for my fan?

The fan is designed for sloped or flat ceilings from 9 to 18 feet (2.7 to 5.5 meters). Select the appropriate downrod length for your ceiling height and slope.

Ceiling Height

For optimum performance, Big Ass Fans recommends the following downrod lengths based on ceiling height.

9–11 ft (2.7–3.4 m) 7 in. (178 mm)
11–13 ft (3.4–4 m) 20 in. (508 mm)
13–14 ft (4–4.3 m) 32 in. (813 mm)
14–16 ft* (4.3–4.9 m*) 48 in.* (1219 mm*)
16–18 ft* (4.9–5.5 m*) 60 in.* (1524 mm*)

*Big Ass Fans recommends using an extended length downrod for ceilings higher than 14 ft (4.3 m). The fan comes standard with a 7 in. (178 mm), 20 in. (508 mm), or 32 in. (813 mm) downrod. Other lengths are available by contacting Customer Service.

Ceiling Slope

The fan can be installed on sloped ceilings with an angle no greater than 34°.
